Joey Dixon led Coach Wayne Cooper's Stallions to back-to-back state titles in 1984 and 1985. The Pierce County native won the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association title in Athens as a freshman and led ABAC into the national tournament where the Stallions finished fourth. Dixon was 10th in the individual competition. In 1985, ABAC won another state title and finished eighth in the national tournament. Dixon was named first-team All-America both years. After his success at ABAC, Dixon played for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and he turned professional in 1987. He played on the Space Coast mini tour before two years on the South Africa PGA tour in 1989 and 1990. After his playing career, Dixon spent 20 years as a manufacturer's rep in the golf industry.
