After graduating from ABAC, Craig Sowell earned a degree in recreation from Georgia Southern and returned to Tift County for an internship with the Tift County Recreation Department. He was later named the TCRD Director and spent a career providing opportunities for area citizens. As an ABAC student, he assisted Sarge Dorsey with the intramural program, helped Wayne Cooper with the golf program, lent a hand to Coach Red Hill with the tennis program, and was also a member of the ABAC Travelin' Stallion square dance troupe that performed at the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition. As the Recreation Department Director, he assisted with the start of the ABAC soccer program as the Fillies played their first year at a recreation department field before their field on campus was complete. Sowell also served on an ABAC Athletics Advisory Committee and was a visiting instructor for the Rural Studies program.
