Brewton-Parker begins pool play

TIFTON, Ga. - The Southern States Athletic Conference baseball playoffs start Wednesday in Jackson, Tenn., and for the first time since joining the conference and NAIA in athletics, the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions enter as a No. 1 seed.

The Stallions, who were predicted to finish fourth in October 2025's coaches' preseason poll, went 20-7 in SSAC competition, three games ahead of second place. ABAC goes into the playoffs on a 10-game winning streak and are 36-14 overall.

ABAC begins the tournament at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday versus eighth-seeded Brewton-Parker (8-19). The tournament is pool play, with the Stallions additionally in Pool A with Faulkner and Mobile. They are set to play each day.

All games will air for free on Urban Edge Network. Full tournament schedule and scores are available on the SSAC's championship page.

Should the Stallions win their pool, they would play again Saturday against the champion of the other pool, whose top-seeded team is No. 2 William Carey (17-10).

Year 2 in the SSAC has been a banner one for the Stallions, who are trying to win their first conference tournament since the 2018 NJCAA Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association title. In their inaugural NAIA campaign in 2025, ABAC was second in the SSAC tournament and advanced to nationals.

ABAC went 38-16 last year, the most wins in school history.

First baseman Cash has made the most putouts in the SSAC (373). Kade Haywood, second in the SSAC in ERA at 3.06, leads in innings pitched with 85 1/3. Haywood's IP is the second-most in the NAIA.

In team categories, ABAC's offense is first in RBI (358), slugging (.489), doubles (104), home runs (53), extra-base hits (167) and total bases (801). On the mound, first in ERA (4.29), innings pitched (407) and WHIP (1.42).
