KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On the heels of their regular season Southern States Athletic Conference baseball championship, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College has caught the attention of NAIA coaches. The final poll of baseball's regular season was released Wednesday morning and the Stallions are ranked No. 17.
It's a big jump for ABAC, which was ranked No. 22 in the last poll, released two weeks ago.
The Stallions, which enter the SSAC tournament today as the top seed, finished the regular season on a 10-game winning streak. They are 36-14 for the year and just two off tying a school record for victories.
ABAC jumped SSAC rival William Carey in the rankings. Carey moves from 15th to 19th. Faulkner and Loyola received votes.
Among non-conference ABAC opponents, Georgia Gwinnett dropped slightly from second to third. The Grizzlies received one first-place vote.
