Taylor homers again, but Shawnee able to hold off Stallions

UPLAND, Ind. - Kam Taylor hit his third home run in as many games, but the record-breaking 2026 baseball season came to an end for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Tuesday evening. Shawnee State added key insurance runs in the 8th inning and won over the Stallions 10-3 in an Opening Round elimination game at Taylor University.

ABAC set a new school record earlier Tuesday with its 40th win on the season.

Taylor, who had eight RBIs over ABAC's three games, drove in all of his team's runs with a three-run blast to deep centerfield in the 5th inning.

Two runs in the 2nd frame and two more in the 4th had the Bears up 4-0.

Zack Bowman started the 5th inning rally with a single to deep third base. Dylan Davis doubled off the left field wall for runners at second and third.

Taylor, who had a mere two homers in the 43 games before the national tournament began, belted a Shawnee pitch well beyond the fence in center.

Unfortunately, those runs were all the Stallions could score on the day as outstanding Shawnee State pitching and defense limited their chances.

Double plays ended potential rallies in the 8th and 9th. Taylor had a hit in the former. Earlier, Chasin Cash and Quinten Rawls had two-baggers, but neither were able to move up any.

Trypp Lumpkin threw four innings. Lalan Ellis pitched three before running into trouble in the 8th. The Bears scored six runs in that inning, which included a grand slam.

Both Rawls and Taylor had two hits for the game.
