LAKELAND, Fla. – On day one in the Lakeland bracket of the NAIA National Baseball Tournament's Opening Round, the only winner so far has been Mother Nature.
The tournament was scheduled to begin with ABAC's Stallions facing the Briar Cliff Chargers from Sioux City, Iowa. But rain throughout the night and the early part of Monday cancelled all games and pushed all of the action back. As of 1 p.m., ABAC's opener has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. tonight and will be the only game of the day.
If ABAC wins, they will play host Southeastern University at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The other first round game between Central Methodist and Arizona Christian is now set for Tuesday at 11 a.m. The loser of that game will play the loser of the ABAC-Briar Cliff game at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
The championship game, which was scheduled for Wednesday, is now set for Thursday at 11 a.m. with an "if necessary" game tentatively scheduled for Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
The weather forecast looks much better for later Monday and the rest of the week. All games will be played at Southeastern's Ted A. Broer Stadium and will be streamed at https://thesundigitalnetwork.com/southeasternfire.
