TIFTON, Ga. - Baseball at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College continues to impress pollsters.
Wednesday, the Stallions were ranked in No. 24 in the first NAIA Ball Media Poll of this season.
The Stallions were not ranked in NAIA Ball's preseason poll, but have gotten off to a tremendous start this year at 11-3, even more impressive considering this is only ABAC's second year in the NAIA after formerly competing in the NJCAA.
ABAC is one of two Southern States Athletic Conference teams ranked in the poll; William Carey, who the Stallions face on the road next week in their SSAC opening series, is No. 16.
Another ABAC opponent, Georgia Gwinnett, is No. 2. The Stallions will play the Grizzlies on the road March 31.
LSU Shreveport, last year's NAIA national champions, is No. 1.
ABAC will attempt to better its record this weekend with a three-game home series versus the University of Fort Lauderdale. Friday is a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Saturday is a single game at 1 p.m.
Before their series at William Carey begins Feb. 27, the Stallions play a single game at Middle Georgia State Tuesday, Feb. 24.
