TIFTON, Ga. -
Dontae Smith has been on fire lately, earning him head coach
Calvin Sinkfield's pick for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions basketball Player of the Week.
Though the Stallions have been unlucky in the win column, Smith has been solid. At Loyola Feb. 5, Smith scored 20 points, connecting on 8-of-12 field goals.
Two days later, Smith scored 22 to lead ABAC in scoring at William Carey. There, he hit 7 of his 13 field goal attempts and added 3 assists.
For the year, Smith is averaging 9.5 points per game and hitting 43% of his shots. Those numbers have been steadily rising. Since Jan. 17, he has scored 12 points or more in five of six games.
ABAC takes on Brewton-Parker tonight at about 7:30 p.m., after the Fillies play the same school. Saturday, the Stallions finish the home portion of their season against Point. The women's game begins at noon.
