Chaney poised to score 1,000th point as ABAC faces Brewton-Parker tonight

TIFTON, Ga. - A milestone of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's revived basketball programs is within sight tonight. Shakiria Chaney is poised to score her 1,000th point with the Fillies. She'll have a chance to get it tonight when ABAC takes on Brewton-Parker at 5:30 p.m.

Both ABAC's men's and women's teams will compete against the Barons.

Chaney currently sits at 992 points. She has scored 501 points this season, combined with 491 in 2024-25.

The milestone is only part of Chaney's outstanding career at ABAC.

Currently, the senior and Tift County native is second among all NAIA women's players with a 22.8 points per game scoring average. The leader, Kaycie Warfel of Taylor (Ind.) averages 24.8.

Within the conference, Chaney of course leads in scoring - by five points per game - and is fifth in free throw percentage at 78.3. She is fourth in steals per game in the SSAC at 2.4 and tied for eighth in blocks at 0.8.

The Southern States Athletic Conference has twice named Chaney Offensive Player of the Week. She won the SSAC's first award this year after scoring 30 in the initial game of the season and 40 in the second.

ABAC has only two remaining home basketball games in 2025-26. Besides tonight's contest, they host Point University Saturday at noon.
