Diamond Stallions Open Regular Season Today

TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's boys of summer make their regular season debut on a warm winter's day Friday, Jan. 23. The Stallions, projected to be one of the Southern States Athletic Conference's top teams, host Columbia International University at 2 p.m. for the first game of their doubleheader.

The Stallions also play on Saturday against CIU. First pitch is set for noon.

In their first season of NAIA play, ABAC went 38-16 in 2025, including a 19-11 mark in the SSAC. Even more impressively, the Stallions made the NAIA national tournament, where they won three straight games.

Head coach Blake Williams named Trypp Lumpkin and Quintin Rawls as his Players to Watch in the Southern States Athletic Conference preview posted this week.

Lumpkin, a senior from Schley County, Williams described as "A highly competitive individual who wants the ball in big situations."

Over 15 starts and 83 1/3 innings pitched in 2025, Lumpkin struck out 83 hitters. He threw 2 complete games.

Rawls, a junior shortstop from Lake Butler, Fla., Williams said is "A superb athletic individual who hits in the leadoff spot and adds tons of defensive stability to the infield."

His athleticism was on display last year when Rawls stole 33 bases in 36 attempts while hitting .389. Rawls' 54 RBIs were second on the club, which he combined with 6 homers, 3 triples and 16 doubles.

Following opening weekend, the Stallions return to the home field Jan. 30-31 for a three-game series against Indiana Wesleyan.
