Chaney 3rd in the NAIA in Scoring Average

TIFTON, Ga. - As the 2025 portion of the women's basketball season concluded Monday, the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies are not just improving on the court, but are also making waves on NAIA national statistics charts.

As of Tuesday, Shakiria Chaney is the No. 3 scorer in the nation, averaging 23.9 points per game. She trailed only Kaycie Warfel of Taylor (27.8 points per game) and Alysia Lawson of Northwestern Ohio (25.2). Chaney is slightly ahead of Kylie Diaz of Peru State and Kaylona Butler of Lourdes, who both are averaging 23.7 points per game.

She started off the season with a bang in the Fillies Women's Classic, scoring 30 versus Warner and 40 against Spartanburg Methodist. Since then, only two opponents have held her under 21 points.

To reach 23.9 points per game, Chaney is connecting on 45% of her shots overall. Though she has struggled some from behind the arc, she is still second on the team with 11 three-pointers made. Chaney is 80% from the free throw line, having connected on 64 of 80 attempts.

Far from solely being a shooting star, Chaney is effective all over the floor. She leads the team in steals at 32 and is tied for team lead at 8 blocks while averaging 6.5 boards per contest.

Chaney is not the only Fillie player ranking high in NAIA statistics.

Through Tuesday, Dailey Jefferson was 20th nationally in rebounding at 10.5 per game.

The Fillies will next be in action Jan. 8 at Brewton-Parker. ABAC's next home game won't be until Jan. 15 against Loyola in an SSAC matchup.
