TIFTON - Saturday is Game Day at Gressette Gymnasium as the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions and Fillies return to basketball action with a doubleheader against Beacon College.
Tip-off times are 2 p.m. for the Fillies and approximately 4 p.m. for the Stallions.
Beacon's men are 2-0 this season, having defeated both Southeast Christian College and the University of Fort Lauderdale. The Lady Blazers are 0-1. Their loss was to the University of Fort Lauderdale. Both Fillies and Stallions are looking for their first home wins of the 2025-26 season.
This is the first regular season home game of 2025-26 for the Stallions and the first for the Fillies since their tournament two weeks ago.Â
Shakiria Chaney has been a dynamo for the Fillies in early-season action. Chaney has 70 points in two games, including a 40-point performance against Spartanburg Methodist.
Beyond Chaney's scoring explosion,
Camiya Starks is averaging 8 points per game.
Taylor Frazier is currently the Fillies' rebounding leader.
The Stallions went 1-1 in their opening tournament a week ago at Brewton-Parker.
ABAC won over Webber International, 69-68, but fell 74-56 to Warner.Â
Matthew Mairena hit a late jumper to help propel ABAC versus Webber.
P.J. Mathews scored 19 in the contest and
Tommie Hall contributed 10 points.
Hall netted 15 against Warner with Mairena adding 11.
Bryce Wimberly and
DeAli Thompson are the team's rebounding leaders.
Saturday will be the last chance to see the Fillies at home until Nov. 24 when they host the College of Coastal Georgia. In between, ABAC travels to Georgia Gwinnett College (Nov. 15) and to Thomas University on Nov. 22. The Thomas game will be their Southern States Athletic Conference opener.
In contrast, Gressette Gym will be quite busy for the Stallions this month.
Tuesday, Nov. 11, they host Thomas University at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 13, it's Florida College at 7 p.m. Two days later on Nov. 15, Dalton State comes in at 3 p.m.Â
On Monday, Nov. 17, the Stallions play a home game at Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. versus ASA Prep.
The Thomas and Dalton State games are SSAC contests.
