Box Score Freshman point guard
Emily Gamon enjoyed the best night of her young Fillie career Monday, leading ABAC to a 79-51 win over Beacon College in Leesburg, Fla.
Gamon was 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc, to finish with a team-high 16 points. Freshman guard
Brianna Wimberly also had the hot hand from long distance, nailing all three of her 3-point attempts and finishing with 11 points.
A huge first quarter set a pace from which the outmanned Blazers never recovered. ABAC led 22-10 going into the second period and the Fillies were never seriously threatened. It was ABAC's best shooting night of the season, hitting 68 percent of its field goal attempts and a blistering 52.6 percent of 3-pointers.
And it was a balanced effort as each player on Coach Charles Wimberly's squad scored points and played at least 14 minutes.
Shakiria Chaney and
Reese Riddle scored nine points each while
Dailey Jefferson had eight.
Now 3-5 on the year, ABAC will return to Gressette Gym Saturday with a noon tipoff against Paine College from Augusta.
