THOMASVILLE – A rough first half was too much to overcome Saturday in the season finale for the ABAC Fillies as they fell to Thomas University 77-52.
The Lady Nighthawks led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter and parlayed that to a 45-19 halftime lead. ABAC played even with the home team in the second half, but the early deficit proved too large.
After shooting 22.5 percent from the field in the first half, the Fillies' second half production was better, shooting 38 percent after halftime. But Thomas controlled the action inside, outrebounding ABAC 62-38, leading to several second shots at close range.
In the final game of her fantastic rookie season at ABAC, sophomore forward
Shakiria Chaney led the Fillies Saturday with 19 points and 12 rebounds while
Camiya Starks scored 11. Thomas's Jasmyn Studamire led her team with 27 points and 12 rebounds while LaTarius Montgomery had 10 points and 17 rebounds.
The loss ends the Fillies' season at 5-22.
