Box Score TIFTON – ABAC's young Fillies gave the Lady Skyhawks from Point University all they could handle Saturday afternoon at Gressette Gym before falling 85-82 in Southern States Athletic Conference action.
The loss drops ABAC to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
ABAC trailed 36-35 late in the first half before
Reese Riddle's layup and a 3-point play by
Malaja Dyous put the home team up 40-36 at intermission. Point used a huge third period, outscoring ABAC 29-16, to take a 65-56 lead into the final 10 minutes. But the Fillies refused to fold. Riddle hit back-to-back 3-pointers, both on assists from fellow freshman
Emily Gamon, to make it 67-64 and Dyous scored a jumper to cut the lead to one. Gamon's free throw tied the game and Dyous's layup returned the lead to ABAC at 71-69 with seven minutes remaining.

Shakiria Chaney, who enjoyed a huge game, tied the game again at 75-75 with 4:40 remaining. But Point began to inch away and hit five of six free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Chaney, a sophomore from Tift County High School, was nearly unstoppable all afternoon, scoring 26 points and grabbing a whopping 20 rebounds to pace the Fillies. Riddle added 23 while Dyous scored 12. Jada Williams also scored 26 to lead Point.
ABAC will travel to Leesburg, Fla. Monday to face Beacon College, who the Fillies defeated 75-56 a week ago. The Fillies will be at home again next Saturday to host Paine University at noon.
