Fillies begin SSAC schedule with split versus Brewton-Parker

TIFTON, Ga. - For a few minutes Tuesday, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies were at the top of the standings in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Tess Rollins threw a complete game and Emma Humphrey doubled in two runs in the 5th to pave the way to a 3-1 victory in the opening contest.

Brewton-Parker broke out of a 3-2 advantage with a 5-run 4th inning to win the second game Tuesday, 9-2.

ABAC, now 9-11 and 1-1 in the SSAC, hosts Mobile Friday in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m. and William Carey Saturday in another double-dip that starts at noon.

In the other only SSAC action Tuesday, Faulkner won twice over Thomas University.

GAME 1

Bats were cold for both teams to open up the 2026 SSAC opener. Neither team had a hit until the 3rd, a single by Alli Eidson. It would be even longer until anyone scored.

ABAC's big inning was the 5th.

Eidson led off with a single, followed by a walk to Carter Gore. With both on the bags, Humphrey doubled down the third base line into the corner, scoring two runs.

One frame later, the Fillies got some insurance.

Though Kiersten Carter was unable to score after a leadoff triple, Ansleigh Darby doubled with two outs, then came in on Eidson's single to make it 3-0.

Brewton-Parker's lone run came in the 7th on a sacrifice fly that turned into more when another runner was thrown out at third trying to scamper back. Eidson made a diving catch in right to end the game.

Eidson went 3-for-4 and Darby and Carter each had 2 hits. Humphrey drove in 2 runs.

Rollins gave up the single earned run in the complete game victory, her 5th win of the year.

GAME 2

ABAC briefly had a 1-1 tie in this contest; Ridleigh Rowell was plunked with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 2nd inning, scoring Emma Humphrey.

But the Barons scored twice in the 3rd, then tacked on 5 more in the 4th en route to the 9-2 win. In between, Ansleigh Darby came across as an unearned run, scoring on a double play.

The Fillies had 7 hits in Game 2, two each by Humphrey, Kinley Snider and Shelby Smith.

Lindsey Paul started and four ABAC pitchers worked the 7 innings.
