DECATUR, Ala. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies will be scrapping for their Southern States Athletic Conference playoff chances Thursday evening after falling in their opening game to Mobile 7-1.
Around 7 p.m. EST, ABAC will face the winner of Brewton-Parker and Point University. Both lost first-round games earlier Thursday. The winner will play again Friday while the season ends for the loser.
Entering as the No. 6 team to Mobile's No. 3, the Fillies faced an uphill climb, especially after the Rams went ahead 4-0 in the 2nd inning.
Mobile added a run in the 4th and two in the 6th before the Fillies got on the scoreboard in the top of the 7th.
Kinley Snider began the 7th with a double, moving over to third on a one-out single by
Carter Gore. Mobile traded a run for an out when
Shelby Smith grounded to third. The Rams finished the game on the next hitter.
The Fillies were held to three base hits for the contest. The other two were Gore's and Kendal Fowler's.
Lindsey Paul pitched a complete game. She struck out one.
