TIFTON, Ga. - The Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College now look to the Southern States Athletic Conference softball tournament after dropping their last two games of the regular season Friday at Faulkner University.
The Fillies, now 20-24 overall and 10-14 in the conference, begin SSAC tournament play Thursday as the No. 6 seed. Their first opponent will be No. 3 Mobile.
ABAC's last two games were 4-1 and 5-4 losses to Faulkner University. The latter game was decided in walk-off fashion after the Fillies tied it with a two-run rally in the 6th.
GAME 1
Faulkner scored one run in both the 3rd and 4th before a two-run homer in the 5th put the Eagles up 4-0.
ABAC scored in the 6th, rallying for the run after two were already out.
On a full count,
Kinley Snider singled down the left field line.
Alli Eidson doubled to left, scoring Snider on the play.
Tess Rollins and
Robby Vann each pitched. Vann's two innings had two hits, a strike out and no runs.
Five Fillies had one hit each. Snider and
Ansleigh Darby both doubled.
GAME 2
Down 4-2 head into the 6th, the Fillies staged a rally.
Ava Roland belted a one-out double to right-center. She was still at second with two outs, when
Carter Gore walked.
Ansleigh Darby singled in Roland, then Gore dashed home and Darby to third on a throwing error.
The score stayed tied at 4 until the bottom of the 7th, when Faulkner led off with a single and used two bunts and a wild pitch to score the winning run.
ABAC's first run in the second contest was in the top of the 1st. Darby, who led off with a single and stole second, came around as an unearned run when
Shelby Smith forced an error.
Faulkner tallied twice in the bottom of the 1st and both teams had a run in the 3rd.Â
The Fillies scored on Smith's single to center, which brought home
Alli Eidson.
Lindsey Paul started and went five innings. None of the four runs against her were earned.
Chloe Stone threw the last 1 1/3 innings.
ABAC had two hits each from Darby and
Kendall Fowler. Smith had two RBIs.
