WEST POINT, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies won two softball games Thursday at point to move into sixth place in the Southern States Athletic Conference standings. ABAC won 5-1 and 3-0 to move their overall record up to 20-22.
Two more games remain on the regular season schedule. ABAC is at Faulkner University Friday for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. EST. The games are being broadcast on Faulkner's YouTube channel.
The Fillies have a two-game lead over Brewton-Parker for sixth place - 10-12 to 8-14 - but the teams could tie again if the Barons sweep Point and ABAC falls in both to Faulkner.
The teams split their regular season series, which would be the first tiebreaker. After that, it would be record against William Carey, the No. 1 seed. ABAC went 1-1 while Brewton-Parker went 0-2.
In next week's playoffs, the No. 6 seed starts against the No. 3, which would be yet another meeting with Faulkner.
GAME 1
Point scored first, a solitary run in the 3rd inning, but that was it for their day.
ABAC tied in the 4th when
Alli Eidson crossed home on an
Ansleigh Darby double. It would not be until the 7th that they broke the tie.
Hannah Capps forced an error, bringing home
Olivia Britt to go up 2-1.
Ridleigh Rowell doubled in two: Capps and Darby.Â
Emily Turley, courtesy running for Rowell, made it Run No. 5 on
Ashley Archibald's single.
ABAC had 12 hits, two each by Eidson, Darby and Capps. Rowell had two RBIs.
Tess Rollins allowed a single earned run in a complete game.
GAME 2
All of the Fillies' runs scored in the 4th, all they needed in the latest shutout by
Lindsey Paul.
Paul fanned seven in lowering her season ERA to 3.19 while winning her eighth of 2026.
The fruitful 4th inning began with a double by
Kendall Fowler to right-center. With one down,
Alli Eidson singled Fowler to third, moving up to second on the play.
Ansleigh Darby's sacrifice fly put ABAC ahead 1-0, Eidson going over to third.
Hannah Capps singled in Eidson, then got herself into scoring position with a stolen base.
Ava Roland drove in Capps with a single and it was now a 3-0 game.
The sweep not only continues to improve ABAC's overall record from last year's (14-30 in 2025 to 20-22 in 2026), it also surpassed their conference win total from a year prior. The Fillies were 9-17 in the SSAC in 2017 and have 10 wins now.
