TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College came out on the unlucky end of a pitchers' duel Tuesday, with Middle Georgia State taking a 3-1 victory in Tifton.
The Stallions were held to 5 hits by a group of five Middle Georgia pitchers.Â
ABAC had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, but a fly to center ended the game without any runs scoring.
The lone run for the locals came in the 2nd.
Chasin Cash lashed a one-out single, moving into scoring position on a walk to
Drew Rothschild. With two down,
Billy Girgis singled and the Stallions were ahead 1-0.
The Knights tied the game in the 4th on an RBI groundout. In the 6th, Middle Georgia led off with a double. A three-base error brought home that run. Now tied, the runner on third came in on a wild pitch.
Girgis and
Quinten Rawls had base hits in the 7th before a strikeout ended the inning. In the 9th, Rothschild walked with one out, then with two outs Girgis and Rawls also earned free passes to fill the bags.
Maddox Earls went 5 strong innings for the Stallions, striking out 2.

Owen Lamb and
Lalan Ellis combined for 4 innings of scoreless relief. Ellis fanned 2 in the 9th.
Girgis had 2 of ABAC's 5 hits.
The Stallions turn their attention to Southern States Athletic Conference games this weekend. They host Faulkner at 5 p.m. Friday, then take on the Eagles in a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
