Haywood goes the distance, Watson drives in 3 as Stallions split

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College had a pair of stellar pitching performances Friday at Thomas University, earning a split against the Night Hawks.

ABAC, which entered the NAIA rankings this week at No. 24, fell 6-2 to Thomas in the opening contest, but redeemed themselves with a 4-1 victory in the nightcap, which saw Kade Haywood give up no earned runs in a complete game performance.

GAME 1

ABAC scored first against the Night Hawks, but after taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, were held hitless the rest of the way by Thomas University's Ian Vickers.

Thomas responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st, then added on another run in the 2nd for the final score.

A leadoff walk to Quinten Rawls saw him trade places at first with Zack Bowman after the latter reached on a fielder's choice.

Dylan Davis boomed a homer to left field for a 2-0 Stallions advantage.

Joe Cooney singled in the 1st and Cameron Campbell was hit by a pitch, but both were left stranded.

While the Night Hawks went up 6-2, ABAC was kept off the bases by Vickers, who set down 19 straight batters before Drew Rothschild drew a two-out walk in the 7th.

Reigh Jordan lost for just the second time in 2026. However, only run he surrendered was earned. Jordan struck out 4. Like Haywood, he threw a complete game.

GAME 2

Kade Haywood fanned 3 and needed but 104 pitches in going all 9 frames against Thomas.

The Stallions had a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning, courtesy of a Talan Watson RBI he picked up when he was hit by a pitch (driving in Joe Cooney) and a solo homer by Quinten Rawls.

Thomas scored an unearned run in the bottom half of the 3rd, but ABAC tacked on two tallies in the 4th for the final score.

Both runs crossed a round-tripper by Watson to left field. Cameron Campbell scored on the blast to make it 4-1.

The Night Hawks had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, but Haywood got the batter to ground out to Drew Rothschild at third to end the game.

Chasin Cash had a 3-hit day for ABAC. Watson drove in 3 of the 4 runs.

ABAC wrapped its series with Thomas Saturday afternoon.
