BRUNSWICK, Ga. - The Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College fell in their season-opening doubleheader Friday at the College of Coastal Georgia.
ABAC fell 6-4 and 14-6 in road games. They were able to even their record Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over Albany State.
GAME 1
Lexi Metts got the Fillies started with a solo home run in the 1st inning, but Coastal Georgia jumped ahead 2-1 in the 2nd.
ABAC regained the lead on a three-run long ball by
Alli Eidson that brought home Metts and
Hannah Capps, making it 4-2 in the 3rd inning.
Coastal Georgia got three runs, including a two-run homer in the bottom half, then added one more in the 4th for the final score.
Capps went 3-for-3 in the opener. Eidson drove in 3.
Tess Rollins started in the circle, going three innings.
Robby Vann cleaned up with three scoreless frames.
GAME 2
ABAC again had an early lead in this contest.
Alli Eidson doubled in
Lexi Metts and
Carter Gore went yard to bring in Eidson to go ahead 3-0.
The hosts were even hotter at the plate and went ahead 8-3 in the 3rd.
The Fillies got two back in the 4th on a solo homer by
Ridleigh Rowell and
Hannah Capps scoring on a wild pitch. They added one more in the 5th when
Ava Roland scored on a Rowell single.
However, Coastal Georgia continued to score throughout for the 14-6 final.
Eidson and Gore each had 2 hits. Rowell and Gore had 2 RBIs.
