Softball Fillies split at Edward Waters

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies softball team gave Edward Waters its first loss of the year, part of a Tuesday road split.

Tess Rollins tossed a 5-hitter and the Fillies won the opening contest, 4-0. Edward Waters took the finale, 3-1.

GAME 1

All the game's runs were in the last two innings.

Ansleigh Darby came in on Carter Gore's single in the 6th. 

In the 7th Hannah Capps scored on Shelby Smith's groundout. Then, Kendall Fowler drove in Kinley Snider to make it 3-0. Ashley Archibald doubled in Fowler for the final score.

From her leadoff spot, Darby had two hits. Archibald had the on extra-base hit.

Rollins needed a mere 96 pitches to stop Edward Waters, which entered the game with an 11-0 record. Edward Waters' five hits were all singles. They had a runner reach third inning, but had no other serious threats to score.

GAME 2

In the opposite of the opener, all the runs in the second game were scored in the first three innings.

Edward Waters went up 2-0 in the 1st frame.

Emma Humphrey drove in Kiersten Carter in the top of the 3rd to get to 2-1, but the hosts added on a run in the bottom half.

Humphrey had two hits, one being a double. Ridleigh Rowell also doubled.

Lindsey Paul struck out 3 in pitching a complete game.

Now 6-8 for 2026, ABAC will next play March 6-7 in Gulf Shores, Ala., against four different teams. The next home games are March 10 against Brewton-Parker.
