TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Stallions extended their baseball winning streak to eight games Friday, but ultimately split a doubleheader with visiting Fort Lauderdale.
Scores were a 14-9 victory and 4-1 loss.
GAME 1
Reigh Jordan ran his record to 3-0 for the year, going 6 innings for 4-run ball for the Stallions. He struck out 3.
Drew Hurst and
Tre'von Lee finished out the night, Lee working a scoreless 9th.
Both teams scored a run in the 1st and the Stallions went ahead 2-1 in the 2nd before exploding for 7 in the 3rd.
ABAC's first run was on
Kam Taylor's sacrifice fly that brought in
Quinten Rawls. They took the lead when Rawls doubled in
Billy Girgis in the 2nd.
Twelve men came to the plate in the 3rd.
Dylan Davis got it started with a homer to centerfield. Taylor singled over short, then
Drew Rothschild made it 5-1 with the second homer of the frame, this also to center.
Walks put Joseph Cooney and
Parker Wallace aboard (
Zack Bowman courtesy running for Wallace). With the bases loaded,
Cameron Campbell singled in Cooney.
Chasin Cash followed with a single that plated Rawls and Bowman.Â
Taylor, 11th man to bat for the Stallions in the inning, made it 9-1 with a sacrifice fly.
The Eagles scored three in the 5th. The Stallions picked up another on Cash's RBI double that brought in Rawls.
UFtL added five over the 7th and 8th frames, but ABAC scored four times.
Rothschild picked up an RBI on a single in the 7th.
In the 8th Cash drove in Girgis with a single and Taylor brought home Cash and Campbell on another base hit.
Taylor and Cash each drove in 4 runs for the game, Cash doing so on 3 hits. Rothschild had 3 RBIs and Rawls and Campbell each scored 3 runs.
GAME 2
Whereas ABAC hit the ball all over the park in Friday's opener, they struggled to find a hit at all against the Eagles' Cameron Hillery.
The Stallions had three hits, all singles in the 4-1 decision, a 7-inning game.
ABAC's lone run came in the 6th.
Billy Girgis reached on a two-base error. The Stallions loaded the bases with a walk and single before
Dylan Davis hit a sac fly to center to bring home Girgis.
That brought the score to 2-1, but the Eagles got a two-run homer in the 7th for the final margin.
It was a scoreless game until the 5th, when Fort Lauderdale score its first runs on a solo homer and single.
Chasin Cash had two hits in the game, Joseph Cooney had the other.
Kade Haywood pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out 6 with 2 earned runs.
Lalan Ellis worked a scoreless 7th, fanning 2.
