TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies nearly dug out of a deep hole against Brewton-Parker Thursday.
Though ABAC ultimately fell 85-72, there was a big moment in the game.
Shakiria Chaney, who needed eight points to reach 1,000 in her Fillies career, did so in the 1st. She finished at 34 points for the night.
The team almost made it an even bigger contest.
Down as many as 28 points in the 3rd quarter, ABAC cut the deficit to 14 to end the period on a Chaney free throw. Chaney and Frazier opened the 4th with baskets and the lead was suddenly down to 9.
Brewton-Parker scored, but Frazier hit two from the free throw line and Chaney made a layup to close the gap to 70-63 at 7:53.
However, the visitors made five consecutive points. Four minutes later, their lead returned to 83-67. They closed out the game from there.
Chaney had a double-double versus Brewton-Parker at 34 points and 10 rebounds.
Reese Riddle finished with 14 points.
Dailey Jefferson was at 9 and Frazier scored 8.
