Fillies dominate Point, 77-51 to close out home season

TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies saved the best for last in basketball Saturday. In the final home game of the season ABAC not only won its third conference game of the season, but by its biggest margin yet: 77-51 over Point University.

Two days after scoring her 1,000th point of the season, Shakiria Chaney made it three games in a row with 30+ points and a double-double, as she combined 33 points with 15 rebounds. Saturday, Reese Riddle added 15 points and 9 rebounds.

Chaney made half of her field goals and all four at the free throw line. ABAC shot 41% from the field overall and 10-of-12 at the stripe.

Point, winless for the season, briefly held a four-point lead in the opening quarter at 6-2, but the hosts reversed that for good at the end of the frame on a Chaney layup.

Ahead 15-14 at the end of the frame, ABAC soon left the Skyhawks in the dust. Three minutes into the 2nd quarter, it was a 21-14 lead and growing quickly.

A Megan Schultz steal fed Riddle to make it 23-14 and Dailey Jefferson made it an 11-point advantage seconds later.

Taylor Frazier free throws in the last minute of the half ensured the Fillies a 39-18 lead.

Chaney built the advantage to 31 (55-24) with a triple at 2:13 in the 3rd.

In the 4th period, head coach Charles Wimberly mostly went to the bench. Analis Hernandez scored 6 points, going 3-of-4 from the field. Payton Goodin had 3 blocks.
