JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Trinity College of Jacksonville won the rematch Tuesday night, defeating Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 73-66 in the Fillies' last non-conference basketball game of the season.
ABAC held a narrow 31-28 lead at halftime, but fell behind in the 3rd quarter.
Down 55-45 to enter the 4th period, the Fillies quickly cut the deficit to four behind baskets by
Dailey Jefferson and
Shakiria Chaney but were down by nine points a minute later. Hurting their chances further were foul-outs by Jefferson and
Megan Schultz.
Reese Riddle hit a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left to make the score 69-63, but Trinity hit four straight free throws to halt the comeback.
Chaney finished at 30 points, connecting on half of her shots from the field. Both Chaney and Riddle had double-doubles. Riddle had 14 points and 10 rebounds while Chaney had 11 boards. Schultz finished at 6 assists.
Chaney remains the NAIA's second-leading scorer, now at 22.8 points per game.
The Fillies host Brewton-Parker Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Point closes out the home season Saturday at noon. Both games will be doubleheaders with the Stallions.
