MT. VERNON - A tough second quarter made the difference on the scoreboard Thursday as the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies fell to Brewton-Parker, 85-69.
The Barons outscored ABAC by 16 in the second frame, 25-9. Otherwise the two colleges were even in points.
Halfway through the first quarter, the Fillies led by eight points (10-2) after

Shakiria Chaney on a layup. ABAC was ahead 19-15 the end of the 10 minutes.
The second quarter wasn't as kind. Brewton-Parker tied it at 19-19 at 8:18 and were only ahead by two, 25-23, at 4:35. That's when the game got away from ABAC and the score was 40-28 at intermission.
Chaney and
Reese Riddle both carried on their hot shooting from before the holidays. Both had 22 points at Brewton-Parker. They were especially deadly from the free throw stripe, combining for 13-of-16. Chaney added a pair of blocks.
Dailey Jefferson pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds before fouling out.
