Stallions Complete Sweep, Win 9-1 Over CIU

TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College finished its first baseball series in style Saturday afternoon, completing the sweep of the Columbia International Rams, 9-1.

Kade Haywood went 6 shutout innings, giving up a measly two hits. Cameron Campbell homered for the second time in as many days and Quintin Rawls doubled twice and scored three runs in the blowout.

CIU's sole run came in the top of the 9th. ABAC scored all of its runs in the initial five innings and gave its bench extended playing time. Haywood was followed by Lalan Ellis, Jeff Hays and Logan Bolinger, each of whom pitched an inning. Ellis fanned two hitters in his.

The Stallions wasted no time making an impact. Rawls scored in the 1st on a sac fly by Drew Rothschild. In the 2nd, Kam Taylor doubled in Campbell and Joseph Cooney. Rawls plated Taylor on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

Campbell delivered his big blast over the right field fence in the 3rd, delivering Chasin Cash to go ahead 6-0.

Rawls came home a bases-loaded sac fly by Cooney in the 4th. Tre'von Lee, in for Billy Girgis in the 5th, singled and advanced to third on Rawls' double. Dylan Davis provided the final two runs with a single past shortstop.

ABAC hitters combined for 13 hits, six of them going for extra-bases. Rawls, Davis, Cash and Campbell had two hits each. Taylor, Davis and Campbell picked up two RBIs.

Now 3-0, the Stallions are back in action Friday for a doubleheader versus Indiana Wesleyan. Game 1 begins at 1 p.m. The next day is a noon contest versus the same school.
