TIFTON, Ga. - Early in the second half, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College was about to take over its basketball game versus Loyola.
Matthew Mairena nailed a three-pointer to open the half and
Tommie Hall followed with a layup that cut the Wolf Pack's lead to 44-43.
Loyola scored the next three, but Hall winnowed it down to 47-45 on a jump shot and
Charly Guentio's free throw at 17:19 kept it at one possession at 49-46.
However, the Pack went on a 7-0 run and the the Stallions were not able to keep pace.
Loyola ultimately went on to an 88-72 victory, denying ABAC its first win since November.
Bryce Wimberly, Guentio, Hall and Mairena all scored in double-digits. Wimberly finished at 17 points and Guentio went 7-of-9 from the field for 15 points. Hall added in 13 and Mairena, playing just 20 minutes, scored 10.
The Stallions hit the hardwood Saturday afternoon for a home contest with William Carey. It will tip at about 2 p.m., after the Fillies' game with the same college.
