TIFTON, Ga. - A red-hot William Carey took a 21-point halftime lead Saturday and went on to defeat the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions 113-82 at Gressette Gymnasium.
William Carey shot a blistering 43-of-82 from the field (52%) and were nearly as hot from three-point range at 11-of-30.
Playing with a short roster of nine players, the Stallions had similar percentages to the visitors. They made 8-of-15 three-point attempts and 28-of-63 (44%) overall from the field. ABAC out-rebounded William Carey, 41-40, but could not match the success on offense.
Matthew Mairena scored 22 points for ABAC, making 7-of-15 baskets and assisting on 4 others.
DeAndre Miller and
Landon Chattam both scored 14 points. Miller was perfect from the field (5-of-5, 2-of-2 three-pointers) while Chattam's numbers included 4 rebounds.Â
Dontae Smith scored 13.
ABAC travels to Tennessee Southern this Thursday and Blue Mountain Christian on Saturday. The next home game is Thursday, Jan. 29 versus Faulkner.
