MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A few close losses cost the ABAC Stallions Saturday in a 5-2 loss to the Rams from the University of Mobile.
The final score does not indicate how close the Stallions were to gaining their second SSAC win. In singles, top-seeded
Luka Blache fell to Martin Jeanne 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, while at number six, ABAC's
Artur Lovison lost to Youssef Fazazi 7-5, 6-4. The Stallions did get wins from
Ryan Neveu at number two as he beat Leon Finke 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, and from
Thibaut Blanchart at number three as he won over Juan Arias 6-1, 6-2. Fourth-seeded
Benjamin Ranby-Al lost to Callum Dickson 6-1, 6-4 and fifth-seeded
Maximilian Marquard lost to Sergio Ruiz Ramiro 6-4, 6-3.
Another close match also cost ABAC the doubles point. At number one, the team of Neveu and Blache lost to Dickson and Finke 7-6 (7-4 in the tiebreaker). Marquard and Ranby-Al lost to Santiago Reina and Ramiro 6-3 at number two, while Blanchart and
Matthew Rodgers defeated Luis Perez and Arias at number three, winning 7-5.
The Stallions have three non-conference matches this week. They will travel to Milledgeville on Wednesday to play Georgia College and State University before a Friday trip to Lawrenceville to meet Georgia Gwinnett, the number one NAIA men's team in the country. ABAC returns home Saturday to face the Eagles from Oxford University of Emory at 1 p.m.
