TIFTON – The ABAC Stallions took the opportunity to flex their offensive muscles Thursday by sweeping a doubleheader against the Toccoa College Screaming Eagles at Stallion Field. ABAC won the first game 12-4 before taking the nightcap 11-4.
The non-conference sweep puts the Stallions at 28-14 overall with the third game of the series scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.
The final score of the second game was only one run closer than the first, but was much closer until the final couple of innings. The Stallions scored two runs in the first but Toccoa scored one in the second and took the lead with two runs in the third inning on solo home runs from Ryan McCarron and Caleb Smith. The lead was short-lived as ABAC scored two of their own in the bottom of the inning on
Tre'von Lee's RBI double and an RBI single from
Harrison Childers.
Brayden Fordham's RBI single in the fourth scored Cam Campbell for a 5-3 lead before ABAC broke the game open with three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Quentin Rawls drove in two with a double to left field and later scored on
Joe Cooney's sacrifice fly. In the sixth, Rawls struck again as the sophomore shortstop blasted a bases-loaded double, scoring all three runners for an 11-3 lead.
Owen Lamb moved his record to 4-0 as he entered the game in the fourth inning and allowed only three hits and one earned run over four innings of work, striking out five. Rawls added a single to his two doubles while Lee and Childers each had two hits.
The opener was never close as ABAC led 3-0 before exploding for seven runs in the fourth. Cooney was 3-for-3 including a home run while Rawls had three more hits. Starter
Reigh Jordan got his fifth win of the season, allowing no runs over four innings.
