MACON – The ABAC Stallions played their first Southern States Athletic Conference match Friday, coming out on the short end against Middle Georgia State University 5-2
ABAC picked up two singles wins from
Thibaut Blanchart and
Benjamin Ranby-Al at numbers four and five, respectively. Blanchart defeated Duarte Mestre 6-2, 6-3 at number four while Ranby-Al beat Nick Dufner 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, ABAC lost two of the three matches played to lose the doubles point. The win came from the team of
Luka Blache and
Ryan Neveu at number one as they defeated Samyak Bajracharya and Daniel Garcia 6-3. The team of Blanchart and
Maximilian Marquard lost to Dufner and Neill Pillai 6-4 while
Matthew Rodgers and Ranby-Al fell to Mestre and Dominik Simunovic 6-4.
In the other singles matches, Blache lost a close one to Garcia at number one, falling 6-1, 5-7, 7-6. At number two, Neveu lost to Simunovic 6-1, 6-1 and Marquard lost to Adria Pratdepadua 6-1, 3-1 as the men's final was decided before that match was finished. Also, Bajracharya defeated
Milan Volbert 6-0, 6-1.
ABAC will return to SSAC action Friday, March 28 against New Orleans in Montgomery, Ala.
