TIFTON, Ga. - What a difference a few weeks makes. The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies fell 77-67 to Georgia Gwinnett College Wednesday less than one month after the same team defeated them by 40 points on the road.
Head coach
Charles Wimberly praised his team's development after the game.
For the second game in a row,
Shakiria Chaney scored 28 points. Chaney hit half of her shots from the field (10-of-20) and was 7-of-8 at the free throw line.
Dailey Jefferson achieved another double-double for the Fillies, 14 points with a sensational 19 rebounds.
Reese Riddle and Camiyah Starks each added 8 points.
ABAC will have a chance for their fourth win of the season next Monday in a 6 p.m. start against Trinity College of Jacksonville, Fla., at Gressette Gymnasium.
Georgia Gwinnett College, which won 93-53 in Lawrenceville in November, got 32 big points from Peyton Hearvey, 24 of them coming on three-pointers.
Down 19-6 after a quarter, ABAC bounced back to cut it to 31-27 at halftime. While the Fillies never led, the Grizzlies were never fully comfortable, opting to slow the pace in the final minutes of the contest.
