THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies fell 70-52 Saturday to Thomas University, a game closer than the final score indicated.
The Fillies (1-4) are scheduled to take on the College of Coastal Georgia (5-2) Monday at 5:30 p.m. This will be a doubleheader with the Stallions also playing Coastal Georgia.
ABAC was down a mere seven points, 48-41, as the fourth quarter opened. Thomas hit a three-pointer, but
Camiya Starks followed with one for the Fillies and with eight minutes left, it was still a seven-point difference at 51-44.
Unfortunately, the Night Hawks hit a 14-0 run over nearly five minutes to pull away.
Reese Riddle's trey saw ABAC jump out to an 8-5 lead at 7:22 in the opening quarter before Thomas took the lead. The Fillies also went ahead, at 15-14, on a three-pointer by
Zamiyah Hosley.
ABAC trailed 25-21 after one quarter, 39-31 at halftime.
In the second half, the Fillies were as close as 46-41 on
Shakiria Chaney free throws late in the third period.
Chaney once again led the Fillies in scoring with 22 points. Riddle scored 10 points.
Dailey Jefferson pulled down an incredible 16 rebounds (13 defensive) and Hosley had a team-high four assists.
Monday's game will be the last before the Thanksgiving break for ABAC. The Fillies return to action Dec. 2 against Thomas University, which will be played in Bainbridge.
