TIFTON - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's women's basketball team fell to 0-2 Saturday afternoon, but got a game for the ages from junior
Shakiria Chaney.
Chaney scored an amazing 40 points in ABAC's 98-74 loss to Spartanburg Methodist College.
Playing nearly the whole game, Chaney was 15-of-23 from the floor, including 2-of-6 from behind the arc.
The Fillies trailed 49-17 at the break, but exploded in the second half to outscore the Pioneers, 57-49.
Chaney scored 30 points in the final 20 minutes of the contest, including 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Chaney was not the only ABAC player to excel versus Spartanburg Methodist.
Camiya Starks came off the bench to score 16 points for the Fillies. Starks was especially hot from behind the three-point line, knocking down four of her six attempts.
ABAC will have to wait for their first win of the year. The Fillies' next game is not until Nov. 8, when ABAC hosts Beacon College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Gressette Gymnasium.
