DECATUR, Ala. - The 2026 softball season for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College likely came to a close Friday after the Fillies fell 3-1 to Blue Mountain Christian.
ABAC was behind 1-0 for most of the game on an unearned run in the 1st inning. They tied it up in the 5th, but Blue Mountain scored the go-ahead and insurance runs in the 6th.
The contest was an elimination game for both teams. Blue Mountain went on to eliminate Faulkner on Friday, but fell to top-seeded William Carey. William Carey was to face Mobile in Saturday's championship game.
ABAC outhit BMC 7-5, but could only get the single run across. None scored for them in the 6th when the Fillies had the bases loaded.
Ava Roland's one-out single got the Fillies going in the 5th. Roland moved up on a wild pitch, then to third on
Ashley Archibald's single.
Ansleigh Darby picked up the RBI on a base hit to right field.
Kinley Snider,
Alli Eidson and
Shelby Smith filled the bases with one out in the 6th, but two infield grounders saw Blue Mountain get the runner at home and then escape the inning unscathed.
A two-run double by Blue Mountain made the difference in the bottom of the 6th.
Darby and Snider each had two hits. All seven ABAC hits were singles.
Lindsey Paul struck out one hitter and gave up five hits. Only two of the runs were earned.
