Stallions complete regular season on 10-game win streak

TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College finished out the regular season Friday, winning their 36th game of the year and 10th straight, a 4-3 margin over UT Southern.

ABAC had another comeback. The Stallions trailed 3-1 in the 6th before tying it in the bottom half. A single run in the 8th was the difference.

Drew Rothschild was hit by a 1-0 pitch to lead off the bottom of the 8th. He went to second a single up the middle by Billy Girgis. Quenten Rawls doubled to left to plate Rothschild.

ABAC loaded the bases with one out after Zack Bowman was intentionally walked for the second time in the series, but the Firehawks got a pop to short and a flyout to keep the differential at one run.

Owen Lamb won his first of the 2026 campaign, going two shutout innings while allowing only one hit.

A liner to a leaping Girgis at second began his 9th. UT Southern had a one-out hit to deep short, but Lamb got the visitors to roll into a 6-4-3 double play to end the contest.

UT Southern and ABAC each had a run in the 3rd.

The Stallions' tally was a two-out rally.

Chasin Cash singled to center, going to scoring position on a four-pitch walk to Dylan Davis. Joe Cooney singled to center and a hustling Cash scored.

There were single runs by the Firehawks in the 4th and 6th frames to take a 3-1 lead.

ABAC tied it up, one more striking when two were out.

Rothschild had a base hit and Parker Wallace doubled for runners at second and third. With Logan Burrell courtesy running for Wallace, Girgis smashed a two-run single.

The Stallions filled the bases here, too, on a single by Rawls and walk to Bowman, but nothing more came from it.

Trypp Lumpkin started the game and went five innings of two-run ball, one of the runs earned. Lalan Ellis pitched two relief frames.

Rawls, Wallace and Girgis each had two hits.

Next up for ABAC is the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament, which begins Wednesday in Jackson, Tenn.

The Stallions are the No. 1 team entering the tournament after finishing the conference at 20-7. They first play No. 8 seed Brewton-Parker (8-19). Thursday, the opponent is No. 5 Faulkner (15-12), followed by No. 4 Mobile (16-11).

William Carey, No. 2 overall, leads a pool with the other four qualifiers. Pool champions play for the SSAC title on Saturday, May 2.
