MOBILE, Ala. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's men's tennis team fell in the Southern States Athletic Conference tennis semifinals Friday to William Carey.
Carey won, 4-0, with remaining matches in-progress stopped.
Luka Blache and
Jules Zanarelli fell 2-6 in doubles, with
Benjamin Ranby-Al and
Milan Volbert falling 1-6.
Cruz Yanez and
Artur Lovison trailed 3-5 at the time of stoppage.
Yanez and Blache took their singles matches to third sets and Zanarelli was on the verge of doing the same.
Zanarelli's score was 6-6 in the second after he'd lost a tiebreaker in the first set. Blache's first set was close, but he dropped it 5-7. He won a tiebreaker in the second and was tied 2-2 in the third set. Yanez won the first set, 6-3 and was down 0-3 in the third set.
Lovison also had a tiebreaker in a set, but he fell in that one before a 2-6 second set ended his match. Volbert and Ranby-Al lost in straight sets.
Defending SSAC champions, William Carey was to face off against Loyola on Saturday for the title.
