TIFTON – The ABAC Stallion tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 7-0 sweep against the Oxford of Emory Eagles at the ABAC Tennis Courts Saturday.
The Stallions swept all five singles matches played without losing a set, and won the sixth by forfeit as the Eagles had only five players. Top-seeded Luke Blache defeated Daniel Naylor 6-1, 7-6 while second-seeded
Artur Lovison knocked off Daniel Bernard 6-1, 7-6. At number three,
Matthew Rodgers defeated Ben Xi 6-0, 6-1, while Sean Canavet beat Colin Kinsey at number four 6-3, 6-1.
Milan Volbert finished up the singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Nolan Ely.
In doubles, the Stallions won the point as the team of
Ryan Neveu and Blache beat Bernard and Xi 6-1 while
Maximilian Marquard and
Benjamin Ranby-Al topped Kinsey and Naylor 6-1.
The win served as a final tune-up for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships, which begin Wednesday in Mobile. ABAC is seeded sixth among the conference's seven teams and will take on the seventh-seeded Toppers from Blue Mountain Christian Wednesday at 9 a.m. If they win, they will face Tennessee Southern Thursday at 1 p.m.
