MACON – The ABAC Fillies tennis team had a tough start to their Southern States Athletic Conference schedule Friday, falling to Middle Georgia State University 7-0.
The closest match was at number two singles where ABAC's
Johanne Genestay fell to Berta Castello 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. Number one
Kitti Nemeth lost to Prieto Marina 6-1, 3-6, 6-2; number three
Tereza Sikorova lost to Ainhoa Fernandez 7-6, 6-2; number four
Eva Swiderek lost to Aya El Marrasse Zarioui 6-0, 6-2; and
Lorena Orsi lost to Yana Prihach 6-0, 6-2 at number five. Middle Georgia's Liza Hinrichs won the number six match by default as ABAC has no sixth player.
In doubles, ABAC's team of Genestay and Swiderek lost to Prieto and Fernandez 6-3 at number one and at number two, Nemeth and Orsi lost to Tamanna Takoria and Castello 6-2.
ABAC will have some time off before returning to SSAC competition. The Fillies will next face Loyola New Orleans in Montgomery, Ala. on Friday, March 28.
