TIFTON, Ga. - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Fillies dropped their last Southern States Athletic Conference home game of December to Life University Saturday, 68-50.
ABAC, now 2-6 for the season, was to play Monday at Beacon College. The Fillies have non-conference home games Wednesday, Dec. 10, against Georgia Gwinnett at 5:30 p.m., and on Dec. 15 versus Trinity Baptist (also at 5:30 p.m.) before taking a break for the holidays.
The second and third quarters made the difference for Life after ABAC was down only 20-18 at the end of the first quarter.
Life's Running Eagles outscored the Fillies 40-21 over those 20 minutes.
The Fillies scored the afternoon's first four points, on free throws by
Shakiria Chaney and
Dailey Jefferson. However, at 7:35, Life had a 5-4 lead that the visitors would not relinquish for the rest of the game.
Shakiria Chaney once again led ABAC with 14 points. Chaney went 8-of-8 at the free throw line and pulled down four rebounds.
Reese Riddle contributed 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting and had 3 assists.
Dailey Jefferson had a near-double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.Â
Six of Jefferson's rebounds came on the offensive glass, where ABAC out-rebounded Life 15-13. The Running Eagles had the edge in overall rebounds, 30-24.
